1/12th Scale Artificial Forest Bedroom

From 1998-2003 I had a studio workspace at the “World Headquarters” on Capitol Hill in Seattle, Washington. I transformed my space into an artificial forest in January 2000 using artificial Christmas trees purchased on post-holiday clearance from Goodwill. I also incorporated astroturf, flat black painted walls and ceiling and an artificial fireplace insert modified into a campfire. In 2012 I decided to recreate that space, including my books, computer, art supplies, and more, in miniature since I didn’t have any photographs of the original installation.

I set up a sleeping bag by the campfire in the ring of trees, which served as my bedroom for a time.

Before setting up the trees I moved my workspace and all of my studio supplies into the closet.
